This pandemic has taken a toll on the entertainment industry and canceled many events. We were not able to go to the concerts we had planned to go to since last year, award shows such as "Premio Lo Nuestro" this year was virtual, and musical festivals were canceled. However, on the bright side, this pandemic has allowed Reggaeton artists to create new music and perform virtual concerts. September 20th will be the most anticipated virtual concert of the year because it’s the one and only, Bad Bunny performing on Uforia live and on his YouTube channel.
September 15th - October 15th is an important time of the year for the Latinx community because it is Hispanic Heritage Month. In the United States, Latinx people contribute in so many significant ways. We are more than stereotypes, we are strong, hard-working, resilient and talented people. No matter whether you are South American, from the Caribbean, Central American, Mexican, Afro- Latinx (the list goes on), we are all part of a beautiful community. What a great way to celebrate the rich culture the Latinx community has with an artist who has crossed many barriers and serves as a positive representation for Puerto Rico and the Latinx community. Bad Bunny has become a household name that even your parents probably listen to El Conejo Malo.
We all know when you hear “Yo Perreo Sola” or “ Safaera” from “YHLQMDLG” You want to get up out of your seat, stop what you are doing, put down your drink and perrear y cantar to all the lyrics because you know them by heart at this point. This artist has such contagious energy where his wild vibes, lyrics and dance moves makes us all release those endorphins. It is just a matter of time until the clubs, concert venues, bars, etc. opens so that we all can experience the live sounds of Bad Bunny’s album.
Not only did Bad Bunny release “YHLQMDLG” this year in February, but he also released “Las que no iban a salir” in May. Each album gained international success, topped the billboard and you can hear songs from these albums all over Tik Tok and other social media platforms. Bad Bunny not only created these albums or sang on his own, but he had other well-known reggaeton artists join in. Don Omar for example, one of the pioneers and respected Reggaetonero in this musical genre, was featured in “Las que no iban a salir.”
I will be ready in my dorm room Sunday night to watch Bad Bunny’s virtual concert. Bad Bunny has been vocal about social distancing, wearing your masks and taking social responsibility with Covid-19, which is another reason why this concert is virtual. Did I mention, its also F-R-E-E-? That means we are getting whole Bad Bunny concert at no cost, we get to be comfortable in our own home and save money?! Yeah, Bad Bunny is the real g.o.a.t
Definitely with the pandemic we can't enjoy certain events like we use to, like seeing a concert in person so I'm excited to watch Bad Bunny from my house and have my own mini-concert! It's free like you said so that's a bonus for all of us.
For sure this virtual concert is something so many people are looking forward to!! I saw it being promoted on so many social media platforms, and as a Bad Bunny fan I am so excited for this concert!
