Billboard Latin Music Week was in full effect last week with tons of panels, events and obviously the Latin Billboard Awards. One of the fun events were the free concerts held at Oasis in Wynwood. For those who don’t know, I am a huge Anitta fan. As soon as I found out she was doing a F-R-E-E- concert I knew I had to hit up my buddies to come with me. I have always wanted to see her perform live but she never seems to tour the U.S. or if she does perform, it's at an awards ceremony.
My friend and I met at Oasis around 8:00 pm since I wanted to be right in the front. Thankfully we both made it to the front. In my opinion, if I am going to a stand only concert, you best believe I will be right in the front so I can see the artist and possibly touch their hand or get a picture of I am lucky.
Anitta did not come out to perform until 12:00 am. Yes, my friend and I were waiting since 8:00 pm to see her, standing and trying to claim our space. This shows how much of an Anitta fan ( willing to wait hours and even in the rain for her to come out.)
I was so excited to finally see Anitta perform live. I know every single one of her songs. Even the songs I don’t understand which are in portuguese, I still vibe and dance to them. I was able to sing along to my favorite hits by her.
Anitta sang Todo o Nada, Sua Cara, Downtown and more. It was about a 30 minute set and the audience thought she was going to perform more. Everyone had looked around when she finished and wanted more. But then I thought, this is a free concert, I should not expect a very long performance.
Anitta started off with “Girl from Rio” with her beautiful and talented dancers. She then transitioned to her more Brazilian funk songs which had the crowd yelling and dancing with Sua Cara, Make it Hot, Bola Rebola and Vai Malandra. I was able to record some of her performances but I wanted to be in the moment and also watch without constantly recording. I will say i admire the way Anitta can dance and wish I can move my body just like her.
Anitta is a firehouse, she can dance, sing, can sing in three languages, what else can’t she do? She is such a talent superstar that I can’t wait to see where else she goes with her career. *Cough cough* Anitta please do a U.S. tour soon!! I would love to see you perform more of your songs and buy merch.
